Introduction to iOS

You will learn the basic setup and common features for the iPhone/iPad. Participants will be able to set-up their own enhanced phone security through a screen lock on their device, as well as to manage the phone settings and management of contacts and communications.

Introduction to Android

Participants will be able to navigate the basic, common and extra features of their Android device, such as optimising the phone's touch screen capabilities, and managing the contacts list. Participants will also be able to set-up their own enhanced phone security through a screen lock on your device, as well as use their device to take photos and videos.

Advanced iOS

Participants will be able to use the advanced features of iOS on their iPhone/iPad devices such as setting up Apple ID and browsing the App Store to download apps. Participants will also be able to use Siri and personalise their own preferred iPhone settings.

Advanced Android

Participants will be able to use the advanced features of Android, such as creating Google Play account and browsing Play Store to download apps. Participants will also be able to use Google Assistant and personalise their own preferred Android settings.

Basic Computer

Participants will gain a better understanding of the different components and parts of a computer and use the computer to execute the basic operations on Windows 10. Participants will be introduced to the Windows 10 interface, as well as using the web browser.

Staying Safe Online

Participants will be able to learn about cybersecurity tips such as setting strong passwords and 2FA, spotting signs of phishing etc, to keep themselves safe online. Participants will also know how to identify the various aspects of cybersecurity such as phishing, malware and scams, as well as understand the risks of online shopping.

Chinese Inputs

*Available in Mandarin

You will learn on how to set up the Chinese language keyboard on your smartphone, and be exposed to the basics to type or input Chinese characters using Hanyu Pinyin and Chinese handwriting strokes.

Facebook

Participants will be able to use Facebook to engage and connect with their loved ones for day-to-day communication. and will be able to customise their Facebook profile, as well as create, like, comment and share a post. Participants will also be able to use Facebook to watch videos.

Be an Instagrammer

Participants will be able to use Instagram to engage and connect with their loved ones for day-to-day communication. Participants will be able to customise their Instagram profile, as well as create, like and comment on an Instagram post. Participants will also be able to create Instagram stories, and watch Instagram live.

WhatsApp

Participants will learn how to use WhatsApp to stay connected with their family and friends and be able create an WhatsApp account, and use it to add contacts and send messages, images and files. Participants will also learn to use WhatsApp to make voice calls, video calls and create group chats.

WeChat

Participants will learn how to use WeChat to stay connected with their family and friends and will be able to create a WeChat account, and use it to add contacts and send messages, images and files. Participants will also learn to use WeChat to make voice calls, video calls and create group chats.

E-Entertainment

Participants will be able to search and watch videos on apps such as YouTube and meWATCH.

Email

Participants will be able to set up an email account and use it to communicate with multiple people at the same time. Participants will be able to compose, read and reply an email, as well as attach documents to their emails.

Video Conference Mobile App

Participants will learn how to use Zoom to stay connected with their family and friends and be able to join meetings and webinars. Participants will learn how to create their Zoom account and use navigate the various functions of Zoom such as muting and unmuting their microphone, adding virtual background etc.

Google Drive

Participants will be able to set up a Google Drive account and use it to upload, retrieve or share files. Participants will also be able to use other features of Google Drive, such as using Google Docs and Google Sheets.

Navigating Around Singapore

Participants will be able to learn how to use Google Maps to search and get to a location.

Shop & Pay Online

Participants will learn how to use mobile apps such as Shopee, Qoo10, or Lazada to search and purchase a wide variety of items and learn to use online payment to complete their transactions.

Mobile E-Payments

Participants will learn how to use mobile apps such as PayLah!, PayAnyone, UOB Mighty, Singtel Dash or GrabPay to transfer funds and make payment to merchants by scanning QR code. Participants will also gain an understanding of SGQR and use the various mobile apps to scan SGQR to make payment.

Advanced Selling

In this course, we will equip you with practical knowledge and skills to improve your Carousell store. Learn the various tips and trick to build your brand on Carousell to manage a successful store.

E-Travel

Participants will learn how to plan their trips by using TripAdvisor or Trivago to search for accomodations, or using Singapore Airlines/Flyscoot to book flights.

Digital Banking

Participants will learn how to use their DBS, POSB or OCBC mobile banking apps to make online transactions such as fund transfer or bill payment. Participants will also learn how to use their bank's digital wallet for e-payment.

Digital Photo Editing

Participants will learn how to edit photos on mobile devices, such as cropping, rotating, adjusting brightness and contrast etc, through the use of mobile photo editing apps. Participants will also learn how to apply filters and add stickers to their photos.

The advancement of our smartphone cameras have enable us to take high-quality photos. In this course, you will learn the basic functions of your smartphone camera and framing techniques in taking a good photo.

This course is tailored to suit the learning pace of seniors, and step-by-step guides will be provided during the class. It will be conducted in mobile platforms and you are encouraged to bring your own device. If you are a Singaporean or Permanent Resident aged 50 years and above, you can enjoy subsidised course fees under the National Silver Academy.

Government Digital Services

Participants will learn how to use SingPass mobile to access various government services and be able to check-in SafeEntry using SingPass mobile or TraceTogether. Participants will also be introduced to use other government applications such as OneService Application or LifeSG app.

SkillsFuture for Digital Community / Basic Digital Skills

Participants will learn how to use their mobile devices for daily activities such as searching for information on Google, communicating through Gmail and WhatsApp, as well as conduct online transactions and making e-payments using mobile banking apps. Participants will also be able to use mobile apps such as SingPass mobile, OneService app, LifeSG etc, to access government digital services. Participants will also be able to stay safe online by using cybersecurity tips such as setting strong passwords and 2FA.

This class will introduce to participants commonly used government digital services, in particular, SingPass. The basics will be covered, such as how to set up a SingPass account, and how to update your phone number. This course is tailored to suit the learning pace of seniors, and stepby-step guides will be provided during the class. E-Health and E-Wellness

Participants will learn how to use HealthHub to manage their medical appointments and look for a GP and also be able to use the app to keep information on past prescription records. Participants will also be able to learn how to use their Healthy365 account to track their fitness level.

Learn To Code Using Scratch

Specially designed for people who are new to coding. This course introduces design-based computational thinking using Scratch. Students will be taught programming concepts, and practice how to apply them through hands-on coding challenges and project-based learning.
